Choice of Games LLC was founded by Dan Fabulich and Adam Strong-Morse in 2009. They produce text-based interactive novels for mobile platforms and the web, combining the delicious freedom of the 1980s’ choose-a-path gamebooks with the depth and scope of a bestselling novel.
In addition to developing their own games in-house, Choice of Games LLC has created an easy-to-use programming language for writing text-based games, ChoiceScript, and publishes games written by other designers.

March 2nd, 2017 | Runt of the Litter | Gaming Trend | The most notable detail about the story is your very own gryphon. He or she is the focus of the story, and thus should be the most compelling character, which they are. When I chose my male gryphon, I certainly got attached to him. I got to decide what kind of gryphon he would be, so when I saw the words “barn owl and snow leopard”, I was sold. I got to name him and shape his personality and his strengths. I got to read him growing up and coming into his own. I grew emotionally invested very easily, which is the sign of good writing in any media, |
February 18th, 2017 | Cannonfire Concerto | Heterogenous Tasks | The grand journey is a somewhat unusual pattern for a Choicescript game: the Choicescript playbook typically operates on a grander scale than a single trip, and it also calls for an ensemble cast of NPCs, who need to be given opportunities to recur. And recur they do! but because you’re on a journey, this isn’t just a matter of you moving in the same circles. It contributes to a sense of paranoia, of spies and machinations: early on you’re told of the existence of a master-spy in Bonaventure’s employ, and everybody else is freaked out about spies, so having the same people coincidentally crop up all the time gets you twitchy. |
February 3rd, 2017 | Metahuman | Brash Games
January 12th, 2017 | Cannonfire Concerto | TouchArcade | While the overall backbone of the story is linear even by the usual standards of these books, there’s a great deal of variability along the edges. With all of the factions and people vying for your attentions, you can choose who and what you want to get mixed up with. Or you can simply try to stay above it all, and make it all about the music. Sooner or later, though, trouble will come to your doorstep, and how you deal with that is going to depend heavily on the relationships you have or haven’t forged along the way. This structure makes Cannonfire Concerto quite a bit of fun to replay. You’ll easily recognize the portions of the story that are the same and can zoom through them, while the various side adventures mean you’ll have something new to read for at least a few playthroughs. |
January 1st, 2017 | Saga of the North Wind | GameBook News | I genuinely enjoyed the storytelling of this text-only adventure from Tom Knights, as the grimness of the landscape, and of your tribe’s menacing predicament, adds a realistic quality to this personal saga; a journey where your leadership will be tested on many occasions. After leaving your settlement of Tar-Domos, you’ll find that the game requires you to regularly manage personalities, loyalties and friendships within your tribe (using balancing stats to measure dominance, charisma etc.) and to determine your destiny via responses to situations and opponents met during your travels. |
December 9th, 2016 | Congresswolf | Emily Short | The campaign structure is a natural fit for a Choice of Games piece: there are several different goals you could reasonably have when running a campaign, especially a campaign overshadowed by a murder investigation. There’s enough predictability to let the player attempt a strategy, but enough variation not to get boring. Your campaign includes some cyclical, predictable tasks like setting a budget for the next month and picking ad strategies, together with increasingly high stakes events, such as meetings with the press and debates with the other candidate. |

September 1st, 2016 | Robots | Now Loading
August 31st, 2016 | Midsummer | TouchArcade | The overall plot is satisfying, the characters are well-done, and the references to both the original play and Shakespeare’s works on the whole are a lot of fun. As long as you don’t mind that it doesn’t venture outside of the box mechanically, it’s an easy gamebook to recommend. |
August 29th, 2016 | Midsummer | Shakespeare Geek | As I work my way through this one I honestly can’t tell how I’m affecting the story because it just continues to flow smoothly as if my decision was the one the author had in mind all along. |
August 26th, 2016 | Midsummer | MobyGames | A loving Shakespearian pastiche (notably of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, As You Like It, and The Winter’s Tale), this interactive story lovingly collides classic dramatic tropes from the back catalogue of the Bard and his contemporaries at the Mermaid Tavern, such as star-crossed lovers, mistaken identity (and outright impostors) and of course the play-within-a-play. |
June 15th, 2016 | Alexandria | MobyGames | All of this intrigue and duty plays against a mosaic of life in Antiquity, from the Olympic games to the siege of Syracuse, populated with a cast of real-life figures including Archimedes and Euclid and historical locations such as the Colossus of Rhodes, the Pharos of Alexandria, and the Great Library. In spare moments, players may find themselves changing the course of history by coming up with inventions years or centuries before their time, and a variety of endings explore the profound marks inadvertently made on civilization by their choices. |
June 14th, 2016 | Pirate | TouchArcade | …the plot is fun and pulpy in mostly good ways. There aren’t any shocking twists or meditations on the nature of humanity. It doesn’t get more sophisticated than a moderately easy-to-predict mystery about the Pirate King’s identity. While the setting certainly echoes real history with some pretty obvious stand-ins, there’s a thick streak of magical fantasy painted across the canvass. Don’t worry too much about it, the game seems to urge. There are giant monster octopi to kill and curses to lift, after all. Don’t you want to find the legendary treasure? |
May 22nd, 2016 | Pirate | MobyGames | Freedom is truly the word for it — in this idealized nautical setting, an array of gender expressions and sexual preferences are accommodated, exemplifying the game’s offerings of diverse and varied approaches to success, depending on players’ preference of approach: combat, magic, trickery, seamanship or diplomacy: here they are all viable paths to untold riches and glory! |
May 21st, 2016 | Pirate | IndieGamePlay | Abbott manages to infuse a lot of action and drama featuring a surprising amount of scenarios. You can pick up a haunted ship, betray (or side with) your former captain, abandon piracy entirely for a life in service of the crown, and much more. It’s a game that’s packed with not just replay value, but equally engaging plots no matter what you choose to do. |
May 13th, 2016 | Sea Eternal | TouchArcade | The game’s story covers a lot of different ideas, but the main ones it focuses on are mortality, freedom, and the reliability of memories. Would you want to be immortal, even if that means being in perpetual servitude? Would you prefer a life of comfortable ignorance, or painful truth? You’ll have to answer these questions as best as you can through the process of playing this adventure. |

January 6th, 2016 | Metahuman, inc. | TouchArcade
January 5th, 2016 | Robots | Autostraddle | The game doesn’t question your sexuality, but it may raise questions for you. If robots could love, should you love them back? Is there something disturbing in building your own companion? If your robot leaves you for another robot, can you really blame her? |
December 30th, 2015 | MetaHuman | Hardcore Gamer | MetaHuman Inc. is a CYOA title which tells an oddly compelling story and leaves tons of room for replayability. |
December 21st, 2015 | Pendragon Rising | TouchArcade | …there’s enough challenge, action, and drama here to make it a solid adventure. |
December 18th, 2015 | A Study in Steampunk | TouchArcade | My hat is off to author Heather Albano for her outstanding writing in A Study Of Steampunk. I always get into these kinds of games to an extent, but I’m not sure I’ve been this deeply moved by one in some time. It’s thrilling, emotional, bombastic, quiet, exciting, and fascinating all at once, and it manages such a range of colors simply by taking its time and doing things right. |
November 24th, 2015 | Diabolical | TouchArcade | I really enjoyed the climax of the game, too. Other than a somewhat odd side-story just before the halfway point, Diabolical is very good about having each chapter top the last. The scale gets bigger, the action more intense, and the enemies more dangerous as you go along. While the narrative isn’t following a single thread, the writer makes sure in each part of the story to seed things that lead into or play some part in the finale. The ending is quite satisfying, too, particularly since it gives you a lot of choices as to how exactly things wrap up. |
November 13th, 2015 | Choice of Games | Tom’s Guide | The City’s Thirst is a many-layered supernatural thriller that sees you pitting your wits against mundane and supernatural forces, from sorcerers to real estate moguls, magical scorpions, to people just trying to get by in a dry and dusty world. |

October 15th, 2015 | Ratings War | TouchArcade | I think that’s why I enjoyed Ratings War as much as I did. Instead of being another gamebook about conquering enemies or traveling through dangerous, fantastical worlds, it opts to focus on more relatable topics like obsession, the value of truth, and whether people who do bad things for good reasons deserve second chances. Those thoughts are woven into a enjoyable, fresh, fast-paced story about investigative journalism, making for a pretty strong package all-around. |
October 9th, 2015 | Ratings War | GameAxis
October 5th, 2015 | Ratings War | Altered Confusion | I personally really liked the way the writing was done in this game, I was drawn into the world, definitely could feel the corruption, and I definitely felt the weight of the choices that were presented to me. |
October 4th, 2015 | Choice of Games | Parallax | Unlike a peacocking AAA game which forces you to behold it’s visual brilliance, Choice of Games LLC elects not to constrain the player in this fashion. Your surroundings are not dictated by the power of your chosen gaming system, and the creativity of a overworked visual designer. Instead, cliche as it sounds, you are constricted only by your imagination which interprets the narrative. This allows the focus of the writers and developers to be on the characters, the setting, and the plot-line, as the superficial is left to the end-user. |

August 6th, 2015 | Champion of the Gods | Out of Game | …as I am not a big fan of books, and this being a game with no graphics nor any music or sound effects I quite frankly did not expect to get so sucked into the lore and that invested in the future of Agossa as I did. |
August 5th, 2015 | It’s Killing Time | 148Apps | Besides offering gender and look options that would put many more expensive games to shame, you get plenty of chance to mould your character exactly how you want them to be. |
August 4th, 2015 | It’s Killing Time | AndroidTapp
July 29th, 2015 | Champion of the Gods | TouchArcade | [Valuckas] puts together a compelling story that manages to maintain its momentum through its many twists and turns, and provides a satisfying conclusion worthy of your hard efforts. The would-be antagonist of the story is a particular stand-out among the cast of characters, at once detestably cruel and yet credibly tempting in his protestations about your actions. |
July 27th, 2015 | Champion of the Gods | Walking Nerd
July 27th, 2015 | Champion of the Gods | 148Apps | It won’t appeal to those wanting a more action packed experience, but those after a more compelling read than most will savor feeling in charge of their destiny. June 19th, 2015 | Hollywood Visionary | Heterogenous Tasks | The really striking thing about Visionary is that its major subplot is about McCarthyism and the Hollywood blacklist, and that it draws strong parallels between the McCarthyite witch-hunt and certain contemporary reactionary movements in videogames. It doesn’t insist on the parallel in all its details; these are two separate things. But it does present the question: what does one do, as an artist, when you find yourself at risk of being targeted by unscrupulous radical conservatives, who might identify you as an enemy based on the most arbitrary and ridiculous of grounds, and who are eager to destroy anyone who doesn’t toe the line? How much of a stand are you willing to take for your art, or your politics, or on behalf of friends and colleagues who get it worse than you? If you’re going to take a stand, where should you make it? And how much damage is done directly, and how much by nervous moderates who don’t want to take a risk on controversial artists? |
June 11th, 2015 | Creatures Such as We | Cheat Sheet | The game dives into how people cope with the loneliness they face and the philosophical discussion of how games tie into our everyday lives. March 31st, 2015 | Robots | AccessWorld | Detailed descriptions of people, places, and events within the game give it the feel of a really good book. Because characters in the game are so well developed, there are times when you might actually take quite a bit of time deciding how you want to proceed. |
March 17th, 2015 | Hero of Kendrickstone | 148Apps | The Hero of Kendrickstone is just a very gripping tale. It’ll last you a long time, even if you’re a fast reader, and there are enough options to make you want to go back and try things differently. |
March 4th, 2015 | SLAMMED! | Gaming Trend | It bridges the gap between reality and professional wrestling perfectly and puts long time wrestling fans in the boots of a character that experiences situations we have dreamed of being a part of. On top of that, it expands your view of wrestling and makes you quickly realize that things are far from roses and rainbows once you begin to achieve the stardom you desire. |
February 23rd, 2015 | Creatures Such as We | Wall St. Cheat Sheet | The game dives into how people cope with the loneliness they face and the philosophical discussion of how games tie into our everyday lives. It’s a thoughtful exploration about our human nature to want for companionship and the lengths we go to ease the pain of loss. |
February 15th, 2015 | Eerie Estate Agent | Pyramid IF | It’s a bit Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead for the real estate broker walk-on character at the beginning of every horror movie who sells a creepy house to the main characters. I love the meta. |
February 3rd, 2015 | Deathless | TechRaptor | The writing is good. Really really good. I found myself laughing out loud several times, and the story is very well written and it really is “novel quality”. This isn’t just some random guy typing up his fantasies. The writing is organized, the language is very diverse and very fleshed-out while still remaining easily readable. And it’s just really funny at times, which I don’t know if I really expected it to be. |
January 19th, 2015 | Robots | Pocket Tactics | …as a gamebook, I’m hard-pressed to find better ones out there. Most gamebooks don’t get more than 2-3 reads from me, whereas [Choice of Robots] is already on its fifth. |

January 8th, 2015 | Robots | VentureBeat | Because every choice can steer the story in a different direction…they carry huge meaning. In other games, that might not be the case. Gamers haven’t always been too happy about how light the connection between choice and consequence can be in games like BioShock or Mass Effect 3. |
January 7th, 2015 | Robots | Critical Indie Gamer | Kevin Gold deftly interweaves humour, suspense, sci-fi and romance in Choice of Robots. At points I felt saddened by the results of my actions,at others I laughed heartily at the fact I was dating a robot. Everything flows together so neatly that the game’s distinct thematic differences feel natural and intriguing. |
January 6th, 2015 | Robots | JayIsGames | Thoughtfully written with warmth, humour, and intrigue, Choice of [Robots] is an intensely satisfying text adventure that will keep you coming back for more with its myriad of endings and decisions that let you play the game how you want to, making for one of the most compelling text games in a long time. |
January 5th, 2015 | Creatures Such as We | MyLadyLydia | …Glasser’s focused writing raises interesting, pertinent questions for anyone who creates and/or consumes media. |
January 5th, 2015 | Robots | AppAdvice
January 3rd, 2015 | Robots | AddAltMode | …I couldn’t resist getting attached to my robot, Ratchet (although an interesting choice of default names are available, type your own is an option so all of mine have had Transformer names, I couldn’t resist) and repeatedly picking options that ended up turning him into a strange and wonderful mechanical child. |
December 31st, 2014 | Robots | iMore | I wasn’t planning on actually playing Choice of Robots today, but after just about every one of my game-loving friends started praising the text adventure, I sat down and opened it. My initial intention was to play the first chapter or so while I waited for some article photos to upload; and yet, two hours later, I found myself glued to my iPhone for the closing scene. |
December 30th, 2014 | Robots | Wicked Baggins | Choice of Robots knows it’s a game. But its sheer plethora of choices, well, that’s a statement as well as a very effective life-sim mechanic. Most games know they’re games. Choice of Robots is one of those that also posits that games can be like life. |
December 28th, 2014 | Robots | MyLadyLydia | One of the situations I stumbled upon during my fourth game made me profoundly uncomfortable and nervous because the writing made me care about all four of those particular characters. I’ve been less interested in the major plot threads of novels than I was in those two chapters focused on small family interactions. Major win. |

December 22nd, 2014 | Psy High | MyLadyLydia | Setting the story in high school let me select the dumb options. I can forgive a sixteen-year-old for being an idiot more easily than a thirty-something. |
December 22nd, 2014 | Black Cat / Psy High | Emily Short | There’s also an interesting passage involving a teacher you admire, and whose help you try to enlist, who turns out not to have as much moral courage as you might have hoped: it felt like a fairly Mars-esque storyline, about the idealism of youth and the often disappointing pragmatism of adults who have a lot to lose. |
December 20th, 2014 | Black Cat | Steam 1st
December 18th, 2014 | Creatures Such as We | 148Apps | Far from being one for adrenaline junkies, Creatures Such As We has the ability to make you think for longer than just while you’re playing. Remaining open-minded throughout, it’s an interesting deviation into the importance of offline, as well as online, social interaction. Plus it’s a fascinating take on the conventional interactive novel. |
December 5th, 2014 | Choice of Games | GamerTime | Through powerful storytelling and open ended story, players can choose a multitude of answers to dilemmas they face, bringing not just huge flying robots to battle but raising questions about more intimate issues such as the human cost of war, personal affairs in war and even romance whilst being a general. |

August 8th, 2014 | Mecha Ace | Ideas Without End | …for someone who is an avid giant robot fan, Mecha Ace is certainly an entertaining slice of more easily forgivably hammy science-fiction… |
July 29th, 2014 | Life of a Mobster | MyLadyLydia | Bottom Line: Recommended. I like this one even more than Life of a Wizard. |
July 24th, 2014 | HeroFall | 148Apps | HeroFall is an engaging entry into the series, delivering the suspense, surprises, and tough decisions that make interactive reading so much fun. The possibilities for character identity and customization are great, the relationships are believable, and the repercussions of life and death decisions can be felt throughout – right up until one of the many alternate endings. |
July 20th, 2014 | HeroFall | MyLadyLydia | Sergi obviously made some characters available for romances at players’ requests, but he makes sure the player knows he judges those choices and does not think they make sense. |
July 17th, 2014 | Hero Project | Darkstation
July 16th, 2014 | HeroFall | Real Gamer Newz | Overall, HeroFall presents an emotionally gripping tale that puts you on the edge and starts off packed with action keeping a steady pace throughout while tackling deep issues of bigotry, discrimination, hate, power, corruption, self discovery, and even love. |
July 16th, 2014 | Life of a Mobster | Lloyd of Gamebooks | This was my original plan: I play the game, explore its nuances, then write a comprehensive review. But, you know, since I formulated that plan I’ve played through this game four times, start to finish. And I feel I’m still only scratching its surface. |
July 12th, 2014 | HeroFall | AppAdvice | Being the third and presumably final book in the Heroes Rise series, this game is just as thrilling and challenging as fans would hope. |
July 2nd, 2014 | Choice of Games | Game Design Round Table
July 1st, 2014 | Mecha Ace | Android Rundown | Mecha Ace is written extremely well. The brutality of war and the uniqueness of people are portrayed extremely well and small touches like descriptions of body language and details of massive starships exploding really help illustrate the story in the player’s eyes. The story changes completely due to player choice and the inner monologue describing why the player character feels the way they do is always spot on. And indeed, the plot itself is excellent. Full of twists and genuine suspense, Mecha Ace is a gripping tale until the end. Its believable characters and surprises really make it captivating reading. The way it personally involves the reader every step of the way makes it impossible to put down until the book is finished. |
June 30th, 2014 | Neighbourhood Necromancer | Zombies, Run! | …deliciously daft and fun, in a way that only a skeleton’s tea party can [be]. |
June 27th, 2014 | Mecha Ace | MobyGames | A ripping interstellar war yarn unfolds across nine episodes and several interludes, in which the player will be charged with escorting civilian transports to safety from their base on the CWS Caliburn, recovering a top-secret project that could turn the tide of the campaign, clashing against an aristocratic enemy duellist, surviving the unleashing of an enemy superweapon that threatens to end the war for good, and undergoing torture and interrogation as a prisoner behind enemy lines. |
June 25th, 2014 | Heroes Rise | Rock, Paper, Shotgun | The big mysteries of the show are also sold well, with potential suspects everywhere and some very well timed twists and turns if you can ignore the fact that most of the people in the game are absolutely awful and the idea of being on a team with really any of them is about as tempting as getting a testing job in an enema factory. |
June 23rd, 2014 | Mecha Ace | 148 Apps | …a well-written adventure that could theoretically justify multiple read-throughs due to the fact that player choices actually have repercussions throughout the universe their character inhabits—whether they’re significant or just minor fluctuations. It’s an action-packed, engaging and fully-realized experience that will hook readers in until it reaches its satisfying conclusion. |

June 21st, 2014 | Mecha Ace | Lady Geek Girl | The NPCs themselves are also racially diverse: your cocky second-in-command is of Middle Eastern descent, the anxious young bridge controller is Japanese, one of your commanding officers is Chinese, and the chief of the hangar crew is Black. This is a nice change from a lot of media set in space that pretends aliens are a reasonable substitute for human racial diversity. |
June 20th, 2014 | Mecha Ace | PocketGamer | If you’re already a fan of Choice of Games’s books, Mecha Ace is worth a purchase regardless of how you feel about sci-fi and mecha media. Its strength is in its choices and the places you wind up because of them. |

June 15th, 2014 | Mecha Ace | AppAdvice | In short, this app is a beautifully addictive combination of a science-fiction book and a game. If you have the patience to play it, you’ll surely lack the will to stop. As you build your own fantasy character, live for honor and glory, and design your own weapons, you’ll be lost in Mecha Ace for hours on end. |
June 14th, 2014 | Mecha Ace | Portable Gaming Region | Basically, the game lets you take part in an interstellar civil war from the comfort of the cockpit of a giant killer robot. Can it get more awesome? |

June 2nd, 2014 | Life of a Mobster | Lloyd of Gamebooks | When I was younger, and a band I liked put out a new album, there’d be a tense period before I managed to hear it when I desperately wished and prayed that it would be as good as I was hoping. That’s kind of how I’m feeling about Life of a Mobster. Please be good. Please be as good as Life of a Wizard. |

May 21st, 2014 | Neighbourhood Necromancer | 148Apps | Even from the first page, Neighbourhood Necromancer manages to meld teenage angst, amusing side interactions, bumps in the night, and commanding the dead in a way that is not only organic, but provides the reader with compelling story choices along the way. |

May 18th, 2014 | Choice of the Deathless | Black Gate | But one of the highlights of Choice of the Deathless is the experience of playing a game that ties in with a larger world. I’d read the novels first (including a draft of Max’s forthcoming Full Fathom Five, which is my favorite in the series yet), so I already felt at home in the world, and I was excited to be a Craftswoman myself. But I’ve also read the books again after playing Choice of the Deathless, and there are elements that cross over beautifully, allowing the game to inform how I read the books. This is how a good cross-format experience should work — not unlike my experience with Marvel’s cinematic, TV, and (oddly) Facebook game formats. Each element enhances the others and my overall experience is more fun because I’m participating so fully. |

May 17th, 2014 | Neighbourhood Necromancer | MobyGames | The big question is: what will the player choose to do with this power? Conceal their newfound talent or flaunt it with an honour guard of Thriller dancers in the school hallways? (Or compromise: only on Hallowe’en?) Settle old scores, punishing the unjust and tragically banal at the chip shop and city council, or share the anomie of doomed youth writ large, laying waste to the whole town in hopes that it grows less crooked next time around? |

September 19th, 2013 | Broadsides | Jenny Hamrick | What I did NOT expect was the way I perceived these gender differences. At one point in Broadsides, I am asked whether I want to trust a Gaulish (their version of the French) lieutenant or not. Picturing a charming French woman, I decided to trust her. However, I asked myself whether I would have acted the same way had the Gaul been a man, and my instinctual answer was “No”! For some reason, I was willing to trust a female, but not a slimy Gaulish male. This game forced me to recognize my own sexist prejudices (which I didn’t even realize I had)! |
August 30th, 2013 | ‘Til Death | MobyGames | This game’s plot points kick things into Act 3 overdrive, with the player having to make the hard choices needed to overcome the ruler’s illness and subsequent reactionary paranoia, an orchestrated assassination attempt (so maybe it’s not paranoia after all), and mesmerism of the entire court by the monarch’s illegitimate son, all against a backdrop of a magical revolution wherein the unique powers of Life and Death Mages can be imbued into an inanimate object and activated by others. |

August 5th, 2013 | SLAMMED! | TouchArcade | Another thing I’m really liking about Slammed! is that it doesn’t shy away from the nitty gritty, behind-the-scenes world of pro wrestling. On the surface pro wrestling offers larger-than-life characters, daytime drama-esque story lines to follow, and plenty of impressive in-ring acrobatics that, pre-determined outcome or not, take a lot of skill to master. Beyond that surface, pro wrestling can be a cutthroat business as performers jockey for the spotlight and promoters try to make money off of sometimes naive talent. |

July 15th, 2013 | SLAMMED! | GameWoof | Even though the power bombs and clotheslines are presented via text, what I liked about SLAMMED! is it gives us a backstage pass in the behind-the-scenes of wrestling. You start your wrestling career struggling in an indie wrestling promotion. As you progress, you will ultimately join the big leagues of professional wrestling, Global Wrestling Alliance (GWA). In real life, it may be compared to World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE). In GWA, you have to manage the politics, backstage drama, camaraderie, backstabbing and your matches in the ring, in front of the fans. |
July 11th, 2013 | SLAMMED! | Calm Down Tom | By the time I was reaching the end, I was eager to discover how Kevin ‘The Scottish Sensation’ O’Donnell’s story would end. And that is SLAMMED!’s biggest achievement. I wasn’t gripped by the story, I was gripped by MY story. |

June 30th, 2013 | SLAMMED! | Unigamesity | What I liked about Slammed was that, up to a point, could be compared to the amazing Walking Dead game from Telltale: some of the choices that you had to make were so difficult and none seemed right, that it really tested out your personality. And what you get in return is the exact response to who you are: a fair player, a mean villain or somebody who’s interested in nothing but revenge and fame. |
June 29th, 2013 | SLAMMED! | MobyGames | In and out of the ring, on reality TV, radio interviews and on social media, backstage and in the locker room, a player will sculpt and direct their wrestler’s trajectory through training, tag-team bouts, title championship matches and novelty extreme conflicts like cage matches and a ladder-and-scaffold match. All this against a rich tableau of true-to-life wrestlers of various divisions with fleshed-out family backgrounds, shticks, and fighting styles, as well as the requisite intrigue from management and hints of heartbreak and doping scandal. |
May 17th, 2013 | Way Walkers | Examiner | The best comparison that I can come up with is to say it is reminiscent of a high fantasy Harry Potter. But even that isn’t doing it justice. It is so much more than that. The setting is built upon quantum and metaphysical theorems that lend its system of magic much more believable than the Harry Potter world. If something floats, there is a reason it floats. |

December 21st, 2012 | Kung Fu | Touch Arcade | I wasn’t expecting Choice of Kung Fu to be my new favorite in the Choice of Games lineup. My first thought was “okay, a gamebook fighting game, well, why not.” I expected plenty of fight scenes and lots of attacks named after animals. The opening scene of the game, a bandit attack, immediately delivers on both. What I wasn’t expecting was the depth of historical, mythological, and philosophical accuracy to the game. |

September 17th, 2012 | Vampire | Mrs. Giggles | And the story line is actually a pretty compelling one, if not exactly original. There are laments of heartbreak, pathos, and drama that are pretty nicely done. Some of the secondary characters are memorably written, and the doomed love affairs can prick the heart a bit. Also, there is considerably evocative use of historical details to add color to the story line. Your character observes and occasionally participates in the social and political turmoil of America in the 19th century, and often, you will feel that you really are in your character’s shoes. Or pointy heels, depending on how you like your vampires. |

August 17th, 2012 | Heroes Rise: The Prodigy | TouchArcade | Sometimes, gamebooks offer blind choices, force illogical decisions, or allow for strategic decision making but not moral conundrums. Heroes Rise does a great job with the design and writing of its decision points. Some are pure action and strategy, but most are focused on who you are as a hero (or, potentially, a villain) and how you will relate to those around you. |
August 16th, 2012 | Eerie Estate Agent | IndieGame Magazine | I thoroughly enjoyed the time I had with the game; it is so well written that as I played I developed a sense of what your horrid boss looks like without looking at any promotional material. April 13th, 2012 | Zombies | Jay Is Games | The writing is not only engaging but it displays how much thought and time the authors spent making this a great tale… It’s worth taking the extra time to play through the entire story then restart and try different choices. February 23th, 2011 | Dragon | Time Well Wasted | That’s right. This game has a f*cking disdain meter. Seriously. It actually keeps track of how much you don’t give a sh!t about puny humans and their laughable ways. Racking up those disdain points gave me way more joy than a 20-minute long multiple choice adventure game has any right to, and for that I raise my leathery wing to it in a salute. |

August 31st, 2010 | Romance | Ferretbrain | “Suddenly we realised how clever the game had been. Without telling you anything more than that you were a noblewoman (or nobleman) going to court to find an advantageous marriage, the game had put you into the shoes of one of the most famous women in English history without even realising what you were doing…” |
August 28th, 2010 | Vampire | Jay Is Games | “Whether you rise from obscurity to become a terror in vampire Society, or find yourself unable to resist the comforts and emotions of mortals, Choice of the Vampire is an exceptionally ambitious and well made adventure that shouldn’t be missed by any fan of text games.” |

August 20th, 2010 | Romance | Jay Is Games | “Despite following a certain story, the narrative affords you a lot of freedom. You’re still only choosing a response or action from a set list, but they’re generally varied enough to give you a sense of character development as you choose. The game even gives you the option early on in setting your preference for men or women regardless of your gender, which makes the game accessible and more immersive for everyone. For a game with the word “romance” right there in the title, it’s nice to see one that is open to all types of love.” |

August 4th, 2010 | Broadsides | The Guardian | “I played [Choice of Broadsides] as a woman, putting me in the deliciously mind-bending position of agreeing that allowing delicate young men to join the Navy is a disgusting idea, and becoming part of a ship crewed entirely by women. It’s hilarious, but an innovative and fascinating way of tackling gender – I’ll be eagerly awaiting the company’s next game.” |

January 20th, 2010 | Dragon | Edge Online | …branching narrative is so compelling and the urge to see the other outcomes so strong that I wondered: why not get rid of all the scut work? Why not play a game like [Dragon Age] in which I make the big decisions and don’t have to slog through the dungeon crawls to get there? |
