Continuing Development on “Choice of the Vampire”

Posted by: Jason Stevan Hill | Comments (5)

I’m thrilled to announce that this Thursday, we’ll be releasing the long-awaited next volume in the Choice of the Vampire saga: St. Louis, Unreal City. Before continuing, let me make a note on nomenclature: I refer to St. Louis as the Fourth Volume, after The Battle of New Orleans, The Siege of Vicksburg, and The Fall of Memphis. I recognize that this is a little confusing, since New Orleans and Vicksburg were released as a single game. As with the release of the previous three volumes, development is ongoing. The initial release of Vampire in August of 2010 was only

Sink Your Teeth into “Choice of the Vampire” for Kindle

Posted by: Dan Fabulich | Comments (8)

SAN FRANCISCO, June 1, 2011: Choice of Games, a quirky independent games company, has released their newest interactive novel, “Choice of the Vampire,” for Amazon Kindle. At more than 160,000 words, “Choice of the Vampire” is one of the longest works ever written in the “choose a path” style, allowing players to choose their gender, sexual orientation, ethnic background, and feeding habits. Play as a young vampire, from the Battle of New Orleans in 1815 through the end of the Civil War in 1866. You’ll meet (and possibly feed from) Andrew Jackson, Marie Laveau and Jefferson Davis along the way.

7 Ways That Your Feedback Has Improved Vampire

Posted by: Jason Stevan Hill | Comments (47)

Choice of the Vampire v.1.2.0 is being released today for web/Android, and will arrive on iPhone as soon as it is approved. That said, as I’ve been working on Choice of the Vampire, I’ve realized that I have been thinking about it more as an interactive novella than a game. In particular, I’m interested the idea of dynamic storytelling. As such, I am very much interested in the feedback generated by the game, because it gives the audience the opportunity to shape the content and direction of the project; see here some ways the game has already changed. #1 Railroading:

Does Vampire “bash” Catholicism?

Posted by: Jason Stevan Hill | Comments (10)

I received this email from a player yesterday: **** Dear everyone involved, I love the Choice-of-Games games you offer, but I’m a little irked at the blatant Catholic bashing in Choice of the Vampire. Please keep in mind that the Catholic clergy did *not* torture natives into conversion. The majority of natives who did suffer torture suffered at the hands of the Conquistadors, the men who came searching for gold and glory, while the Spanish (and French Jesuit) clergy offered protection, reading, writing, medical treatment, etc. to the displaced natives. There have even been visitations to the natives by saints,

Fantasy vs. History

Posted by: Jason Stevan Hill | Comments (15)

I am thrilled to announce that Choice of the Vampire is currently undergoing review by the App Store; barring unforeseen problems, it will be released in the next few days! As many of you are aware, to date, Choice of Games has published a series of fantasy multiple-choice games. Being a relatively progressive lot, and unconstrained by market research or corporate interests, we’ve been free to be politically progressive (specifically with regards to gender and sexual orientation). Because these games have historical themes, they have had to be situated in fictional realities, realities in which, for example, women crew ships

Look Ahead at Our Future Games

Posted by: Adam Strong-Morse | Comments (20)

We’ve gotten a lot of questions about what games we’re working on and when they’ll be released.  I thought I’d give a quick run-down of some of the games that we have in progress. We have two games that are fairly far along.  Choice of the Vampire by Jason Hill is in beta testing currently.  We hope that it will be ready to release soon–maybe by the end of June–but we’ll keep on working on any of our games until we’re satisfied with them. “Choice of the Consort” is the tentative title for our game about romance and intrigue in

Coming Soon: Choice of the Vampire

Posted by: Jason Stevan Hill | Comments (26)

Hello world! My name is Jason Hill, and my old friend Dan recruited me to join the Choice of Games team earlier this Spring. Being between jobs as I am, I’ve had plenty of time (some might say too much!) to devote to our next release, Choice of the Vampire. While our audience hasn’t expressed overwhelming desire for a vampire game, my personal interest in the genre lead me to write this. So, I know that you’re all looking forward to Dragon II and God and some of the other games we’re thinking about, but I hope you’ll deign to
